Danger (Avoid)

Anything seasoned, spiced, sauced, or marinated is dangerous for fish. The salt, oils, sugars, garlic, onion, vinegar, and chemical additives in seasoned food are all individually harmful — combined in a single piece of spiced chicken or BBQ scrap, they become a concentrated cocktail of tank-destroying compounds.

Quantity

A single piece of seasoned food introduces multiple harmful compounds simultaneously. In a small tank, one BBQ chicken wing scrap can create a multi-layered crisis: salt stress, oil film, ammonia spike, and potential allium toxicity all at once. There is no safe amount.

Q: Can I give my fish a piece of my plain grilled chicken?
