Zoomies Fuel Crumble

A crunchy, high-octane topper designed to turn "let's go for a walk" into "let's conquer the mountain."

Medium 10 min prep + 45 min bake Spring 2 tablespoons

Ingredients 4 items

  • Coconut Oil 2 tablespoons
    melted
  • Mealworms 500g
    raw, to be mixed
  • Oyster Shell optional 1 tablespoon
    finely chopped
  • Rolled Oats 1 cup
pulsed in a blender into a coarse flour

Preparation

1

Crank your oven up to 175°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2

Toss the beef, oat flour, and melted coconut oil into a bowl and get your hands dirty—squish it all together until it feels like a thick cookie dough.

3

Spread the mixture onto the tray as thin as a pancake; it doesn't have to be pretty.

4

Bake for 40-45 minutes until it's dry and crisp.

5

Once cool, break it into tiny "pebbles" or "gravel" with your hands and store in a jar.

Best Time to Serve

30 minutes before hitting the trail

Purpose

This is pure biological rocket fuel. It combines quick-burning fats with complex carbohydrates to ensure your dog doesn't hit a "wall" halfway through a hike or an agility course.

When to Use

Best used for high-energy days—think hiking, beach runs, or when you’re about to start a training session that requires peak focus.

What to Expect

A golden-brown, chunky gravel that smells like a Sunday roast. Your dog will start spinning in circles the moment they hear the jar lid clink.

Does Not Fix

Will not magically teach your dog a perfect "heel" if they’ve never done it before.

Time to Effect

Within 30-45 minutes of consumption.

Safety Risks

Not for dogs with pancreatitis due to the concentrated fat content.

Watch the portions for "lazy" dogs; this is for athletes!

Enrichment Ideas

Easy: Sprinkle over standard kibble as a "boring-buster."
Medium: Hide pieces in a "snuffle mat" for a pre-game brain warm-up.
Hard: Place in a plastic bottle with small holes so they have to work for their "pre-workout."

Owner Tips

If it feels a bit soft after baking, leave it in the oven with the heat off and the door cracked to dry out further.

Smells amazing to humans, too, but resist the urge to snack on it—it’s unseasoned!

Keep the jar in the fridge if your kitchen is warm to prevent the oil from going rancid.
